Course Description

This course focuses on the fundamentals of web creation and usage. Browsers, Internet terminology, and Internet usage will be addressed.  Use of XHTML in the creation of web design will be discussed. The course will provide an introduction to graphic web applications and the development of a web site.

Performance Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

• Define and explain core concepts concerning the Internet and the World Wide Web;
• Examine the aesthetic considerations of web site design;
• Identify and define variations between browser versions;
• Explain a basic understanding of how browsers process markup languages and various MIME file types;
• Define various Internet related protocols and their typical usage;
• Describe XHTML and CSS elements and attributes and their treatment in the browser environment;
• Design and implement completed web documents using XHTML, which include images as well as multimedia file types; and
• Troubleshoot and correct problem areas in third party XHTML documents.
